Odin is the best Windows based freeware out there to flash stock firmware onto your Samsung device and is the easiest to use as well. Odin does not work with custom ROM as it cannot recognize .zip files. The stock firmware come in .tar files. The latest version of Odin is Odin3 version 3.12.5.
Before flashing firmware using Odin
- Make sure your device is rooted.
- Have a full backup of your device ready.
- Install a custom recovery on your device.
- Download latest USB drivers for your device on your Windows.
How to flash Stock Firmware using Odin?
Step One - Download latest Odin from here. If the file is compressed then unzip it and install Odin on to your PC.
Step Two -
Download Stock Firmware for your device. Make sure it is a .tar file. If it is a .zip file extract it and you should be able to find a .tar file
Step Three -
Launch Odin. Put your Samsung device into download mode. To do that switch off your device. Press Volume down + home + Power button together. Now using Volume Up button select Download mode.
Step Four - Connect your device to your PC using a USB cable.
Step Five - Click on AP and browse through your PC and find the stock firmware that you downloaded and select it.
Step Six - Once selected, click on start. The flashing process will now begin. You will see the progress in the bar above. Once your device has finished flashing it will reboot.
